What We Believe We believe that our universe was created by an all powerful, all knowing, all present God. We believe that God is the source of all moral goodness and love. We believe that God created all living things but created humans “in His image” in order to have relationship with them. We believe that God has revealed Himself in nature and in the Bible. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. We believe that sin is a violation to God’s moral law and a usurping of God’s authority. We believe that humans have marred their relationship with God because of sin. We believe that, because every single human being is a sinner, every single person stands in need of God’s grace and salvation. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, “God in the flesh” who was born of a virgin in Bethlehem. We believe that Jesus “died for our sins” when He died on the cross. We believe Jesus rose from the dead in bodily form three days after he died. We believe that through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, God offered every single person the chance to be forgiven of our sins and a hope to dwell with God in heaven for eternity. We believe that we accept God’s offer of salvation through faith in Christ, repentance of sin, and immersion in water (baptism). We believe that God imparts His Holy Spirit to dwell within every Christian. We believe that the body of baptized believers makes up the church, God’s spiritual body on earth. We believe that the role of the church is to worship God and to share God’s love and good news of salvation with all people. We believe that Jesus will come again. At that point, everyone will be resurrected and face judgment before the “throne” of the Sovereign God. We will be judged according to our deeds. Only those who are “in Christ” will be saved and be with God in heaven.
